How to get to the Technical University of Sofia by public transport
The Technical University of Sofia is situated in the Darvenitsa residential area. It can be reached by buses No 280 and No 94 (from the center), No 413 (from the railway station), No 84 (from the airport), No 88. You may also use tram No 2.
Public Transport
Trams, buses and trolley buses are the main public transport in Sofia. It runs from 5am till midnight for buses and trolley buses and till 1am for trams. There are tickets for a single trip. The tickets could be purchased at kiosks at the major stops, at newsstands or in driver's cabin. At the present time the price of ticket is 0.30 levs.
MAJOR TRAM LINES
* 1 and 7: route passes through the Central Railway Station, Sheraton Hotel, and Vitosha Blvd.
* 2, 12 and 19: route passes through the Central Railway Station, Graf Ignatiev St., Zhurnalish Square in Losetets.
* 6 and 9: route passes through the Central Railway Station, the National Palace of Culture underpass, Losenets area.
* 5: runs from the National History Museum down Tsar Boris 3rd Blvd. to Knyazhevo area.
MAJOR BUS LINES
* 84: runs from the Airport to Sofia University.
* 213 and 313: run from the Central Railway Station through "Lavov Most" (Lion's Bridge) down Tsarigradsko Shousse Blvd. to Mladost area.
* 280: runs from Sofia University down Tsarigradsko Shousse Blvd. to Darvenitsa area and Student Town.
* 94: runs from Sofia University through Losenets area to Darvenitsa area and Student Town.
MAJOR TROLLEY BUS LINES
* 1: runs from Banishora area (near the Central Railway Station) down Opalchenska St. through the national Palace of Culture underpass to Sofia University.
* 2: runs from Hadji Dimitar area through Sofia University down patriarch Evtimii Blvd. by the Medical Academy to Borovo area.
* 5: runs from Banishora area (near the Central Railway Station) down Opalchenska St. through the national Palace of Culture underpass to Mladost area.
* 9: runs from Slivnitsa Blvd. down Rakovski St. down Patriarch Evtimii Blvd. to Borovo area. |
Taxi
Taxi-cabs can be found at the taxi ranks in towns and resorts, or can be ordered by phone. All taxi-cabs in the country are yellow, signalled with the respective identification.
They operate at daytime and nighttime rates –from 6.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. (daytime) and from 10.00 p.m. to 6.00 a.m. (nighttime).
An additional fee is paid when ordering by phone.
Initial fare – 0.40 levs
Daytime fare – 0.39 levs per kilometer
Night time fare – 0.45 levs per kilometer
Waiting – 0.12 levs per minute |
Airport
Sofia’s principal airport is located ten kilometres (six miles) east of the city centre.
Transport to the city: The public transport bus 84 runs a frequent service – every ten or 15 minutes, 0500 - 2400 – from the airport to Orlov Most, close to the city centre (journey time – 20 minutes). Tickets cost 0.40 levs and can be bought from the kiosk near the bus stop or directly from the driver. Taxis are also readily available. Foreign visitors are sometimes overcharged, so a price should be agreed beforehand.
